Austrian affiliate of Magirus wins 1.5 million Euro vehicle contract for Austrian fire brigades
Published:  06 November, 2015

Magirus Lohr, the Austrian affiliate from Magirus, the German vehicle manufacturer, has won a contract from the Austrian Federal Proc

urement Organisation to supply a range of light firefighting vehicles of up to 7.5 tonnes and heavy-duty trucks (ranging from to 16 tonnes and over 26 tonnes).

Magirus Lohr’s was involved in a competitive tendering process with several other European bidders in procurement process.  The fire trucks will be taken into use by the Austrian State Fire Department Associations.

This means that Magirus Lohr has secured an order volume of up to 150 million euros (160.740 US Dollars) over the next five years. In addition to Kainsbach, the Fire Protection Competency Centre at Magirus in Ulm Germany will also be involved in the production process.

’We are pleased that we convinced the BBG with our quality and the best price-performance ratio,’ said Richard Reder, managing director of Magirus Lohr in Kainsbach near Graz in Austria. In the future, Austrian communities can save money on procurement costs by bidding via the BBG, which must obtain offers from various producers. The BBG contracts with the best-price bidder and thus offers legal security.

The equipment in each firefighting vehicle was coordinated with Austrian state fire department associations. The fire departments will have the opportunity to adapt their equipment to their own requirements during the production process. ‘Magirus Lohr scored especially high with its proven and particularly high-quality components,’ concluded Reder.
