German fire brigade training adopts semi inflatable rescue boat from Survitec

The German fire brigade has selected a 5.1m class semi rigid inflatable rescue boat from Survitec Group for use at its firefighter training school in Kassel, central Germany. Supplied with a complete trailer system, the boat can be easily towed behind a brigade vehicle. The boat will be used primarily for training on rivers and lakes but, if required, it is ready to be deployed in a real life emergency. 

Partnership project to reduce wildfire risk in Northumberland

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) and the Northumberland National Park have begun work on a project to help reduce the risk of wildfires in the county.

Ziegler acquired by China International Marine Containers Group

Insolvency administrator Bruno M. Kübler has sold the business operations of the global fire truck manufacturer Ziegler to the stock market listed Chinese commercial vehicle and logistics group CIMC (China international marine containers group ltd.) All jobs have been preserved and all locations remain in operation. A two year highly intensive and intricate restructuring process took place during the insolvency period, preceding the transaction. Ultimately Ziegler was able to regain market leadership in Germany, and is enjoying the highest order intake level in the last 10 years. The number of employees in the company is currently equal to pre-insolvency levels.

According to a recent report released by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), 540 civilian deaths in the United States were attributed to smoking material fires in 2011, a 30 year low that is well down from 1980 levels.
